Are You Content?
Contentment is a state of happiness and satisfaction.
As I began having my quiet time, a study on jealousy between Cain and Abel. I kept hearing are you content?
I suddenly had a deep heavy feeling I couldn't quite ignore, it was indeed a question worth thinking about.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
I realised Ive actually been having some feelings of discontentment, whether it's been where I am in life, lifes troubles or just day to day things.
Recently I had taken on a lot for myself, which hasn't helped me, mentally or emotionally and I had become a little unhappy, mostly in my attitude and things I just couldn't control.
In a way I have realised I began to take my eyes of the very thing I need daily. JESUS.
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
See our contentment doesn't have to come from a job, friends, partners. Sometimes we're so set on our contentment coming from achievements or how well we are noticed, but I tell you a time will come you will be by yourself and there will be nobody but you.
I'm the type of person who is actually happy spending time alone with just me and The Lord, its when I'm around people that's the problem, which is the opposite for some. I know people who can't be on their own, they cry, feel depressed if there not doing something or around people 24/7 which is actually very unhealthy and a cause for concern.
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
True contentment is found when you decide to lean on Jesus. When you take your eyes off yourself, and hear what The Lord says and wants you to be.
It's time to take that pressure of yourself, that perfectionism in a sense, it will fade a way and a peace and happiness that you almost can't process will fill your mind and heart.
You will no longer feel the need to compete or feel like your being left behind, whatever you discontentment is in, decide to make this decision, give it into God's hands.
Otherwise you will find you turn bitter, jealous, unhappy and deep down you will resent the very thing God may have already re written for you.
I encourage you to be content in every season, keep your eyes on Jesus. Whether in hard times, good times. When you are weak God will use your weakness to strengthen you.
Don't become bitter or jealous instead rejoice and be content.
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
