Grammy Winner Tori Kelly Hiding Place Album Review

     Gospel Christian Music Review

So today we are giving you something a little new. An album review. It's hard to find good Christian music these days so I have  been listening to some different Christian music genres a listen and here is my first one.

Tori Kelly's Hiding Place Album
“With gospel music, you can’t sing without all your heart being in it,” says singer Tori Kelly . “This album was an opportunity to do what I felt and never hold back. I could just be free and let the song take me over.
Tori Kelly is a singer songwriter, actress and record producer.

Kelly is mostly known by fans for her YouTube covers and appearances on US singing shows such as American Idol and Americas Most Talented Kids.
She may have been given a no from Simon Cowell but two studio albums, a film, four tours, two Ep’s later haven’t stopped Tori Kelly from achieving a steady music career.
Hiding Place is Kelly’s third studio album and is a cross over from Pop to Gospel Christian album which recently won best gospel song and album of 2019 at this year’s Grammy’s.

Hiding Place is a soulful mix of R&B and Gospel. Kelly worked with Gospel legendary producer and songwriter Kirk Franklin, who is successfully known for his gospel masterpieces.
Kelly is known for her soulful riffs and runs, with songs like Souls Anthem, a beautiful slow ballad from the album which highlights Kelly’s gifted range and emotion. Kelly’s choice to use a choir reflects the songs message of hope and unity no matter what you are going through, it is well, as Kelly sings the last haunting line of the song Lord, don't You ever let me go. You make it well with my soul.
This is the last song on the album but one of my top five songs of Hiding Place.

Another song of the album added in my top 5, Never Alone. Never alone is one of the most up-tempo songs of the album. Produced by legendary Kirk Franklin and features Franklin on the piano. Again Kelly gives her fans the riffs and runs and embodies elements of a young Mariah Carey with her range and emotive lyrics that leave you replaying the song over and over and crying out for more She says “I’ve cried many rivers, walked through some pain.
I’ve seen my world crumble and I’ve carried the shame. But I know somebody, He calls me His own, I can hear Heaven singing out, oh you’re never alone."
The songs message of hope and knowing that you are never alone are enough to encourage and inspire any listener to keep listening into the next masterpiece worked on by Kelly and Franklin.

Just as sure is a song on the album collaborated with gospel singer songwriter Johnathan Mcreynolds, also known for his smooth vocals and authentic song writing. The duet is mixed with sweet tones with an acoustic accompany, parts of the song are remincent of duets such as Lionel Richie’s Endless love duets and Mariah Carey ft. Brian Mcknight whenever you call. The song oozes melodic harmonies and tender moments, a perfect love song for a gospel collaboration.

Hiding places may be Kelly’s first gospel passion project but we certainly hope its not her last, with its R&B gospel sounding roots and legendary song writing and composition from Kirk Franklin the album is certainly a masterpiece and has deserved its Grammy success.
